LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN CONFIDENCE INDEX 2024

Andrzej Szymański Managing Director Dartom sp. z o.o.
What are your expectations for this year’s performance for your company and the logistics sector in general in Poland? How will this be influenced by expectation for the general economic environment?
Overall, the outlook for Poland's logistics sector this year appears positive, driven by economic growth, infrastructure development and demand recovery after almost two years of recession. Inflation is still a problem, but it is also under control now. We are also much more optimistic in our company. Admittedly, there has not yet
been a major recovery in demand in the transport market, but supply shortages are already being felt, which will help transport companies return to profitability.
What, if any, changes in international supply chains have you observed in re cent years (nearshoring) and especially in the last 12 months – and which do you expect to see in the years ahead?
The last two years have been especially difficult for transport companies. The recession, coupled with rising costs and declining profitability, has put immense pressure on the industry. Many companies faced severe financial strain, leading to a wave of bankruptcies and a noticeable decrease in sales. Looking ahead, we expect the trend towards nearshoring to continue as businesses prioritise agility and reliability
in their supply chains. Additionally, the integration of advanced technologies, such as automation and AI, will play a significant role in shaping the future of the logistics sector, driving further improvements in efficiency and service quality. Overall, while the past two years have been challenging, the current recovery phase presents new opportunities for innovation and growth within the logistics industry.
